A Fond Farewell to Mr “Brass”
“A teacher has two jobs; fill young minds with knowledge, yes, but more important, give those minds a compass so that that knowledge doesn’t go to waste.” (from Mr Holland’s Opus)
The college recently said a fond farewell to Mr Bernie Thelwell, a long standing member of the music staff of the college. Bernie was noted for a great sense of humour but also his immense dedication to the young people of the college. He was an excellent role model who filled our young people with a wonderful love of music, achievement in hard work and a real sense of self worth.
Headteacher, Paul Dickinson said, “a one off; outstanding, reliable and a deeply committed music educator. Enjoy your retirement.“
“The rivers don’t drink their own water; Trees don’t eat their own fruits. The Sun does not shine for itself; And flowers do not spread their fragrance For themselves. Living for others is a rule of nature… Life is good when you’re happy; but it is much better when others are happy because of you.” Pope Francis
