Outstanding Achievement for College Student

Faye Culshaw a member of the 2020, Year 13 graduating class, from Archbishop Beck Catholic College, applied for and was awarded a  converted Edge Hill University Scholarship.

These special scholarships are called “Excellence Scholarships”: they are awarded to a student who has shown outstanding commitment to Volunteering and Citizenship within the community.

The award seeks to recognise young people who have shown “outstanding determination, commitment and achievement outside of their studies”.

Faye received the fantastic news, days after receiving her A Level results. Faye had spent long days and many hours working voluntarily at Alder Hey Children Hospital and Litherland Youth Centre, helping and supporting children of all ages and abilities.

Faye commented: “It was a tough application and hard to get, so I am really happy! Hard work pays off!!”  I am now going to Edge Hill University to study Children’s Nursing BSc (Hons).

Faye said “I would like to thank Mrs Mulhaney for her support over the last two years, the wonderful Teaching staff and the Sixth Form Team for your ongoing support. Thank you and I wish you all the very best”.

Headteacher of the College, Paul Dickinson, added, “Well done Faye, you were part of an amazing group of young people who we had the honour, privilege and pleasure to have in our community”.

(One of our alumni, Ellie Gallagher, recently featured on the college website, also attended Edge Hill University and was also awarded an Edge Hill  University Scholarship)
