Struggling to Sleep?
Lockdown has affected so many different things in our lives with sleep becoming a problem for many due to the change in routines.
Research shows prior to lockdown 68% of teenagers were not getting enough sleep on school nights – as a parent of a teenager I feel this has become an increasing issue during lockdown. There are so many different factors which can affect children’s sleep. From the bedroom environment not being quite right, such as too much noise or light, to more potentially serious problems. And if a child isn’t getting enough sleep, then the parents probably aren’t either – causing increasing stresses among the whole family.
We all know that not getting enough sleep can affect us mentally and physically and with a return to school imminent – how do we get our young people back into a routine?
The attached resource is a guide to improving your child’s sleep pattern and an additional guide is attached if your child has special educational needs.
Both guides are from the websites:
The website specifically aimed at teenager, it has a Live chat available every Tuesday and Thursday, 6pm – 8pm
The Live Chat will be open and young people can talk to one of their Sleep Practitioners about sleep issues or they can brush up on their knowledge around getting a good night’s sleep!
I hope these resources prove useful and help us all to improve our sleep pattern and ultimately our health and wellbeing!
