Welcome to Home Learning
At Archbishop Beck we recognise the importance of home learning in student progression. Home learning helps to develop good study habits, which are essential for life-long learning. It helps students to become independent learners without the need to always have direct supervision from their teachers. It extends and develops the work done in college and encourages research and experimentation. It can make use of resources not normally available in the classroom.
Home learning will be set regularly and in a variety of formats. Students record home learning in their planners, this will also give parents/carers an overview of the work they have been set. We set appropriate home learning that should be achievable and doesn’t need additional support from teachers or parents, however we encourage all parents use home learning as another chance to support their child’s progress and encourage dialogue about the school learning experience.
We expect all our students to produce quality home learning that meets the deadlines set by teachers.
Below are learning resources which link directly to the sequenced curriculum taught in college. Subjects may use these resources as part of their home learning. These can also be used to develop independent learning, as students can use these resources to further develop skills and enhance knowledge or as part of their revision for assessments.
These resources can also be used if a student is unable to attend college due to COVID-19 or any other underlying health conditions.
