5 Minute Q & A with Joe Williams & Mr Hicks
“Never give up and do what makes you happy”. Joe Williams 2021
When did you leave Archbishop Beck?
February 2019
What does your occupation entail?
I work in the Patient Appointment Centre within Fazakerley Hospital. I deal with phone calls/emails/letters from patients, doctors within the hospital and GP surgeries. I must ensure all appointments are given correctly and that all the systems are up to date to ensure the smooth running of the appointment system.
What do you value in people?
Kindness and honesty.
What barriers and challenges have you overcome during lockdown?
Unfortunately, my job cannot be done from home so due to some health issues I had a period of furlough from March until August last year when I had to shield on the advice from the Government. I have now had both of my Covid injections so feel a lot safer being back in the office and out in public. This was a real challenge for me as I was not used to being at home for long periods of time. I took up running and made sure I took some form of daily exercise and found that this is what helped me through. I still run a couple of times a week.
What has been a highlight of your career to date?
When I got my permanent full-time position.
What are you most proud of in your career?
I had interviewed and got my job initially in a part-time capacity and I am proud that I was offered the full-time job without having to interview again. I was called into my manager’s office and offered the job.
What do you like most about your job?
That I help people of all ages and all walks of life daily and that I have met friends for life in the office.
What are your memories of your time at Archbishop Beck?
Teachers were always helpful, and I made some good friends who I am still in contact with.
What advice would you give to your teenage self?
Never give up and do what makes you happy.
What is your favourite film?
Elf
What is your favourite song?
You’ll never walk alone – the version ‘live from the KOP’
What is your favourite book?
I am not one for reading but anything to do with LFC.
Many thanks Joe it has been wonderful to catch up with you and in the words of a famous song,
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you’ll never walk alone
You’ll never walk alone.
