“My current role is as the Policy and Marketing Manager for Knowledge Quarter Liverpool, Liverpool’s Innovation District. My role is to look after the strategic development of the Innovation district and involves working with a wide variety of Health and Life Science based companies within Liverpool City Region. My job is never the same as the day before and can range from hosting government ministers and investors into the City to attending international conferences overseas in Hong Kong and mainland China. As a company we are involved in a number of projects that will increase Liverpool’s knowledge economy and help create new jobs for the future in health, technology, innovation and education.
“One of the biggest projects we have been working on is the development of the new Paddington Village ظ€ô a campus located in the heart of the Knowledge Quarter that is being filled with world-leading companies such as the Royal College of Physicians and Rutherford Cancer Centre. Paddington Village is also home to the Spine, the new flagship building that now sits on the city skyline with its ‘giraffe like’ pattern. The Spine has been designed as an office of the future and is one of the worlds healthiest buildings.
“The key focus of Knowledge Quarter Liverpool is to keep Liverpool at the forefront of innovation and so we are pushing through a number of projects such as looking at green transport solutions, using VR and immersive technology to create a digital masterplan of the area and creating new cultural masterpieces that the students at Archbishop Beck have already been heavily involved in through the Art Department.
“Part of my job at Knowledge Quarter Liverpool is to help young people in the Liverpool City Region understand what types of careers are available in this part of the City and to help them take their first steps towards a career in innovation and so I am really looking forward to sharing my expertise with members of the college community and engaging them into Liverpool’s Innovation District.
