The Curious Incident
On Thursday 24th March, as part of their assessment, a group of our year 10 Performing Arts students indulged in an exciting and inspiring afternoon of theatre to watch the globally acclaimed show, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
Based on Mark Haddon’s multi-award winning novel, the story follows the journey of an autistic, young protagonist, Christopher Boone who adopts the role of a detective after discovering the death of his neighbour’s dog, Wellington. The narrative offers an original and highly immersive experience as it follows Christopher’s unique perspective of the world around him.
Whilst enjoying the show, the students were required to identify and make notes on the spectrum of technical and performance based techniques that helped to bring the production to life.
The students made some fantastic observations and were quick to recognise the Brechtian style of the play.
Despite the play running for a lengthy 2hrs 30 minutes, the students remained consistently enthusiastic, and stated that they felt inspired to discover more shows in the future.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time felt like a fitting choice for Neurodiversity week, and was a wonderful celebration of art and individuality for the entire audience.
