The Scholars Programme at The Brilliant Club
Brilliant students doing dynamic things at the college
Once again, this year we were able to enrol 10 of our fantastic Year 9 students onto The Scholars Programme project which forms part of the Brilliant Club.
The Brilliant Club offers challenging opportunities for students to complete a project which is aimed one Key Stage above where they are currently working. Our students this year completed an 8-week project which focussed on Art Activism, essentially how activism for any topical issue can be portrayed through art. Students were asked to produce a 2000 essay at the end of the project which was then graded according to the university style assessment system, 1st, 2:1 etc.
Our students produced truly outstanding work which pushed them beyond their normal academic boundaries and which they should be extremely proud of.
Well done to Finn, Daniel, Dylan, Sophie, Sidney, Evie, Jasmine, Olivia, Neve and Evie. A fabulous achievement!
Mrs Stirling, Assistant Headteacher at the college said, “the outcomes of the students were dynamic, powerful and very creative, well done to you all.”
What is Art Activism?
Artistic Activism is a dynamic practice combining the creative power of the arts to move us emotionally with the strategic planning of activism necessary to bring about social change. Art and activism do different work in the world.
