A Golden Milestone

On Friday 27 May Bishop Tom Williams celebrated the anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. Bishop Tom was ordained in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King in 1972 by Archbishop George Andrew Beck and was ordained as titular Bishop of Mageo and Auxiliary Bishop of Liverpool on 27th May 2003 again in the Metropolitan Cathedral by Archbishop Patrick Kelly.

On Sunday 29th May Bishop Tom was the main celebrant at Sunday Mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral.

This was a joyous occasion celebrating his Golden Jubilee with family, friends and the wider archdiocesan family.

The college community was represented at the Mass by Year 12 students Anthony and Abbie and Mr and Mrs Hicks.

We had a chance to catch up with Bishop Tom before Mass and present him with some gifts.

Headteacher, Paul Stirling said, “Bishop Tom has always been a wonderful supporter of the college community and we were delighted to send him our thoughts, prayers and good wishes on his very special Jubilee.”

Prayer
Father, may everything we do
begin with your inspiration,
and continue with your saving help.
Let our work always find its origin in you,
and through you reach completion.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen
