Learning Outside the Classroom

Geography is the study of places and the relationships between people and their environments. Geographers explore both the physical properties of Earth’s surface and the human societies spread across it.

A Level Geographers had the opportunity to travel to Formby beach during November. They visited the National Trust site at Formby Beach to study the sand dune system. A variety of methods were used to collect data, allowing the students to practice using clinometers, quadrats, tape measures and shovels.

The students enjoyed the day and were able to apply their geographical skills to the outdoors.
