It’s Christmas time at the College
“Dear young people, put your talents at the service of the Gospel, with creativity and boundless charity.” Pope Francis
Archdiocese Advent Service
The College was represented by over 65 students on 7th December at the annual Nugent Advent Service at the Cathedral. At this Service there was the opportunity for us to give the presents we had collected from within and outside the community. We are especially grateful for the gifts that were given to us free of charge by Barney Rubbles shop and from staff and students alike who gave so generously. Thank you all very much for the generous support.
Head of RE at the college, Mr Dave Postlewaite said, “it was a very moving, spiritual and uplifting event at the Cathedral, allowing our students the opportunity to spend some time in reflection as we journey to Christmas.”
The Senior Citizens Christmas Party
We have collected £271.50. along with gifts and presents from Parents, Staff and Students. This is a fantastic amount and a huge thank you to all who contributed. The party will take place on Wednesday 14th December.
Mission Christmas
Once again Archbishop Beck Catholic College and Radio City / Cash for Kids ‘Mission Christmas’ have joined forces and worked together to encourage donations of toys, clothes, games, books, toiletries, soft toys and hair and beauty gifts to support some of our most vulnerable children and families.
We are delighted by the kindness and generosity of our families, students, and staff, from all areas of the college community. Students and parents have made personal donations of gifts, chocolates, and toys to suit children of all ages and our college community have been able to donate many gifts to Mission Christmas to aide their continued work supporting the wider community of Liverpool.
Christmas can be daunting for many families and all charitable acts are greatly appreciated and make a huge difference. We are very proud and grateful for everyone’s continued support and wish everyone a joyful Christmas.
Headteacher, Paul Stirling said, “I am in awe at the amazing generosity of the college community who this year have given so much to so many. As Pope Francis said, “Charity, patience, and tenderness are very beautiful gifts. If you have them, you must want to share them with others.”
Thank you one and all for your generosity.
A Christmas Prayer
Loving God, help us remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the song of the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds,
and worship of the wise men.
Close the door of hate
and open the door of love all over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting.
Amen.
