CAFOD – Big Lent Walk
Our Year 8 students recently took part in the CAFOD Big Lent Walk 2023 which saw them walking collectively as a year group 200 kilometres during their PE lesson to raise funds to support the work of CAFOD.
Special thanks must be given to members of the PE department who joined the students on their walk and to those who have made a donation to CAFOD already following the completion of the walk.
Head of Religious Education, Dave Postlethwaite had no hesitation in signing up the students to undertake the challenge of the walk, referring to the below quote from St Matthew’s Gospel which illustrates why the college supports the work CAFOD does.
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?”
“When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?”
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:37-40
