Year 10 Humanities trip to University of Liverpool
On Thursday 15th June 24 Year 10 students visited the school of Histories, Language and Culture at the University of Liverpool.
The event included several sessions looking at the themes of protest, alliances through language and ancient medicine. Students were given the opportunity to create evidence and debate if Mrs Howarth and Mr Supria would have been convicted of witchcraft during the Salem witch trials. The suffragette movement was also studied and then using these ideas students created their own protest movement.
Students were given the opportunity to handle artifacts from the University’s Museum, the use of high-power microscopes and x rays allowed them to understand the intricacies and meanings behind precious gems and pieces from Ancient Greece.
The day ended with our very own Eurovision, looking at how language maybe not politics unites countries……. especially at voting time!
Students and staff thoroughly enjoyed the day and found the whole experience fascinating and informative.
