Stephen Twigg Visit

Stephen Twigg MP on his visit to the college on Friday 25th January 2013 met with Paul Loughlin from Rathbone Investment Management and Mr Dickinson.

The college and Rathbones presented the exciting developments for next years intake to the ‘Advanced Apprenticeship’ programme, when 6 students will be employed by Rathbones Investment Management, whilst receiving their training at Archbishop Beck Catholic College.

The students will be working in an organisation that is one of the UK’s largest and longest-established providers of high-quality investment services.

This unique opportunity was commended by Stephen Twigg MP; he was suitably impressed with the wide range of opportunities available to our students, and commented on how the productive links we have with businesses enhance the curriculum and provide high quality career opportunities.

Stephen, Shadow Secretary of State for Education, also engaged in a positive discussion with Paul Dickinson, headteacher, and other senior leaders about education issues impacting on students, before facing a rigorous question and answer session with thirty sixth form students. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and the headteacher expressed his gratitude to Stephen for giving up his time to visit Archbishop Beck Catholic Sports College.
