Archie’s Mob – Young Entrepreneurs

Phone Shields Success

Congratulations to Jay Ladd & Daniel McCormick founders of Archie’s Mob, Phone Shield business. They have beaten over 20 secondary schools in the area and went on to win a place in the finals for Liverpool Vision, Head for Business competition.

They had to come up with a business idea, set up and run the business along with their studies. As year 11 students, they have been an inspiration to other students due to their determination and commitment to the project. Their hard work has been recognised, deservedly so. Hopefully Jay and Daniel can go on to win the competition on the 2nd May 2013.

Who We Are

We are a small group of year 11 students at Archbishop Beck Catholic College, who are taking part in a Liverpool Council initiative to find young entrepreneurs. It is a competition between primary and secondary schools across Merseyside and also nationally. Each ‘Social Enterprise Business’ needs to set up and run their own businesses and any profit they make is put into school activities or local charities.

Our group called ourselves ‘Archie’s Mob’.

Our Product

Our product is a phone shield. When we first began to decide on what product we wanted to sell, we found out that the radiation that comes from mobile phones and computers can actually have a dire effect on our health. This intrigued us enough to want to find out more about it. We then discovered that you can suffer from headaches, memory loss, confusion, fatigue, loss of concentration and sleep disturbances through radiation. And they are the minor effects.
