Work Inspiration

To meet the requirements of the 16 to 19 study programme that the Government have just recently introduced, we have to ensure that our Year 12 students have a good experience of work-related learning. In July 2015 our students have obtained 5 days of valuable work experience in a number of different organisations around the city. These organisations have included:

ACC Echo Arena
Carillion (Royal Hospital and LFC sites)
Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)
Liverpool John Moores University
Liverpool Mutual Homes
Merseyrail
Merseytravel
Nugent Care

The purpose of this programme has been to provide students with the opportunity to experience different environments and facilities to help their individual aspirations and potential. It is also important for us to realise that as a school we need to equip our students with the skills and knowledge required to be successful in their learning, qualification outcomes and future destinations.

Students have embraced this opportunity and have benefited greatly from the time spent in industry:

This was an enriching experience and I learned a lot of new skills such as teamwork and how to work independently. I feel that the skills that I have learned will support me all through the rest of my career. Overall, I really enjoyed this work placement and I would love to go back.

Angeline Wilson

Work Experience has left me full of confidence for my future. I am, more than ever ready to get a job.

Jack Hardacre
Carillion LFC

I have had an enriching experience, I was able to use my creativity to design a newsletter for volunteers and a number of different flyers. I thoroughly enjoyed my week at Nugent Care.

Joel Wilson
Nugent Care

A fun and involving experience. It was good to explore catering and hospitality on an industrial scale.

Kobi Westwood
ACC Liverpool Echo Arena

I really enjoyed working with children in a nursery I gained more confidence as I had to come out of my comfort zone.

Courtney Spike
Rice Lane Nursery

An exciting, new experience that helped me gain new skills and learn more about the world of work. It was great to work with the children and has made me consider teaching as a career.
