40 Acts of Kindness during Lent
“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” Saint Mother Teresa
Last Tuesday 4th April, some of our Year 9 students supported the team at the “Sisters of Charity” homeless shelter in Seel Street, Liverpool.
Many homeless people came to have a very tasty meal at the shelter and for a short time have a warm, friendly and supportive place to rest.
Arriving at the shelter, the team of students were given the first instructions on how to organize the catering for the visitors. The Year 9 students helped prepared the food, then served the two course meal to the large number of people who came along. At the conclusion they washed the dishes and then finally, washed the tables and floor ready for the next visit of homeless people.
The atmosphere was very welcoming and everybody was immensely privileged to have helped at the shelter.
At the end of all the hard work, the team of students were given a tour around the facilities and an insight into the wonderful work that the Sisters of Charity do, not only here in Liverpool but throughout the world.
Speaking on return to the college Mr Hicks said “Our Year 9 students had a lot to reflect on. Everybody gained new experiences and would like go again to support the team at the homeless shelter”.
