Remembrance Sunday

The sun was shining on the huge crowds as the Liverpool community gathered for the annual commemoration, centred around the Cenotaph at St George’s Hall with service personnel, local dignitaries and veterans marching through the city to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The college was represented by Head Boy and Head Girl, James and Anna, Mrs Dickinson, Mr Hicks, Mr and Mrs Cotter.

This year’s service also marked the 100th anniversary of the conclusion of the Battle of Passchendale.

The event also saw an appearance by “Joey” the life size puppet from the National Theatre’s production of War Horse (now playing at the Empire), it was at the service – to recognise the importance horses played in the infamous battle.

Speaking after the event James said, that “we both felt honoured to have attended and represented the student body and community of our college at the Service of Remembrance & Dedication, adding we owe so much to the spirit of these brave men, women and horses who gave us in their own way peace and freedom.”
